You CAN in fact be fired for your opinion. You have no guarantee of free speech at work. And the First Amendment doesn't give you the right to say whatever you want whenever you want. If it did, espionage laws would be unconstitutional. So would libel laws.

Black bears usually avoid humans. From the description of the one in the article, I'd guess its been having a really hard time finding food and hunger won out over fear of humans.
